Future Farmer

“Fremtidsbonden” (Future Farmer) is a project supported by regional development measures from Rogaland County Council until the end of 2025.

The main objective of the project is to establish a network of farmers in Rogaland who will be able to place concrete orders with the industry and at the same time experience increased competence development within digital and precision agriculture. Here we need the farmer as the expert who helps to highlight what is actually useful for agriculture so that good solutions win out.

What you can do by participating in the project

  • Contribute to the industry gaining insight into which tools and solutions are actually needed through your own expertise.
  • Test out different solutions together with actors in the Agritech network.
  • Develop proposals for solutions that make your own operation easier and more efficient – at the same time as making it easier for the next generation to take over.
  • Be equipped to meet increasingly stringent requirements for emissions, production and digitization.
  • Help farmers get a better reputation.
  • Discuss concrete solutions and challenges with other farmers.

Who can participate?

The project is open to all farmers in Rogaland who are interested in contributing to the development of future-oriented agriculture.

Farmers of the future: Shaping the future of agriculture with technology

Introduction

The “Farmers of the Future” project is a groundbreaking initiative in Rogaland, Norway, that aims to bridge the gap between technological innovation and real-world needs in agriculture. Supported by Rogaland County Municipality until the end of 2025, the project seeks to create a network of forward-thinking farmers who can actively shape the development of new technologies and solutions for the agricultural sector.

The need for a farmer-centric approach

The agricultural industry is undergoing rapid technological change, with new tools and solutions emerging all the time. However, not all of these innovations are equally useful or relevant to the daily realities of farmers. The “Farmers of the Future” project recognizes the importance of farmer input in driving the development of truly beneficial technologies.

How the project works

The project involves two key components:

  • Establishing a network of farmers: The project will create a network of farmers in Rogaland who are willing to test and evaluate new technologies, provide feedback to developers, and share their experiences with other farmers.
  • Providing training and support: The project will offer training and support to farmers in the use of digital and precision farming technologies. This will help farmers to build the skills and knowledge they need to make the most of these new tools.

The project is a unique opportunity for farmers in Rogaland to play a leading role in shaping the future of agriculture. By working together with developers and researchers, farmers can ensure that new technologies meet their needs and help them to build a more sustainable and prosperous future for the agricultural sector.

Benefits of participating in the project

Farmers who participate in the “Farmers of the Future” project will have the opportunity to:

  • Contribute to the development of new technologies: Farmers will be able to provide feedback and input on new technologies, ensuring that they meet the real needs of the agricultural sector.
  • Test and evaluate new solutions: Farmers will have the chance to try out new technologies on their own farms, helping them to identify the best solutions for their specific needs.
  • Develop solutions for their own farms: Farmers will be able to work with developers to create customized solutions that address the challenges they face on a daily basis.
  • Prepare for the future: The project will help farmers to prepare for the future of agriculture, which will be increasingly digitalized and data-driven.
  • Improve the reputation of farmers: The project will help to showcase the innovative and forward-thinking nature of modern farming.
  • Network with other farmers: Farmers will have the opportunity to connect with other farmers from across Rogaland, sharing knowledge and experiences.
