- Canada is a market where Norwegian agrifoodtech solutions are very well received. It's not just about exports, but about building long-term partnerships in an ecosystem that shares our values related to sustainability, technology and safe food, says Gunnar Crawford, Head of Agritech Cluster at Nordic Edge.
Global Growth Agrifoodtech Canada is a 10-month export program running from January to October 2026, targeting Norwegian agrifoodtech companies with a commercial product and clear international ambitions. The program combines market insight, strategic competence building and close follow-up - both through physical meetings and digital one-on-one sparring.
- Our role as a cluster is to lower the threshold into new markets. Through this program, we connect the companies directly to relevant environments in Canada where the solutions can actually be tested and further developed, says Crawford.
A strategically important market
Canada is a global agricultural superpower and the world's fifth largest exporter of agri-food products. The country has a high level of technological maturity and a strong focus on sustainable food production, making it an attractive market for Norwegian agrifoodtech solutions.
In addition, Canada serves as a safe and natural gateway to further expansion in North America. Nordic Edge has already established relevant contacts in Canada, including food experts, clusters and living labs, giving the participating companies a valuable advantage early in the process.
