ICN membership: a shortcut to global cleantech markets

Nordic Edge is a member of the International Cleantech Network (ICN) because the major societal challenges of our time cannot be solved locally alone. For our members, membership means established relationships with 22 leading cleantech clusters, access to pilot opportunities and EU consortia, and a concrete channel into markets where gaining a foothold would otherwise take considerable time.

As a neutral connector between industry, academia and the public sector, ICN is a natural international platform for Nordic Edge, and an operational extension of our “Smart with a Heart” principle.

– For Nordic Edge, ICN is about giving our members something they cannot build alone: an international network that is already in place. We connect Nordic companies to conversations and projects that would otherwise take years to enter, says Trygve A. Meyer, Head of Smart City, Nordic Edge.

From locally strong to internationally relevant

ICN is a global network of 22 cleantech clusters across four continents, with access to more than 7,000 startups and SMEs, over 250 knowledge institutions, and more than 130 cities and regions.

For our members, this is an infrastructure that is difficult to build on your own. Through ICN, companies gain:

  • Matchmaking with international clusters, cities and companies
  • Access to EU consortia under Horizon Europe and i3
  • Pilot arenas and reference customers in established cleantech markets

This is precisely the kind of access that moves a company from being strong locally to becoming relevant internationally.

Copenhagen 2026: from conversation to projects

At the ICN annual meeting in Copenhagen in May 2026, Nordic Edge participated with Trygve A. Meyer and Terje Eide. Clusters and partners from Europe, Africa and South America discussed how climate-friendly solutions can move faster from idea to market, with working sessions on sustainable tourism, industrial symbiosis, hydrogen, water, carbon capture and sanitation solutions, and concrete consortium-building for upcoming Horizon and i3 calls.

What this means for our members

Our ICN membership is about giving members access to global markets, project opportunities, pilot arenas and investor communities. Together we build bridges between Nordic companies and partners in Belgium, the Netherlands, Finland, South Africa, Austria, Canada, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Brazil. It is in networks like these that we can help shape green export initiatives for our members.

Members interested in exploring concrete opportunities through pilot projects, consortia or market entry are welcome to contact Terje Eide or Trygve A. Meyer at Nordic Edge.
