In just two years, Stavanger municipality has helped shift the agricultural sector’s willingness to invest from simple solar panel installations to smart system solutions for energy storage and management. Now we’re sharing the recipe!

Stavanger municipality has set a goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent by 2030. Through the “Renewable Energy Islands” project, we have tested digital and technical systems at the edge of the grid, where local power production, battery storage, and consumption are coordinated. This relieves pressure on an already strained power grid while significantly strengthening farmers’ own preparedness and security of supply. These experiences are now being carried forward into, and reinforcing, the municipality’s work in the EU initiative NetZeroCities.

Nordic Edge has evaluated the municipality’s energy-efficiency initiative in agriculture. We are now inviting you to a seminar where we will share fresh insights with strong transfer value for other municipalities, grid companies, and business stakeholders.

At the seminar, we will explore, among other things:

· The success factor: How municipal support functioned as effective risk mitigation — and triggered nearly NOK 5 in total project investments for every municipal krone, of which almost NOK 4 came from the farmers themselves.

· Peak load reduction in practice: How prioritizing batteries and smart energy management over pure production increased the value per krone for grid stability and preparedness.

· Barriers and solutions: Challenges related to grid capacity and regulations — and how the municipality can take on the role of an active market developer to address them.

Welcome to a session of knowledge sharing and professional insight!
