Taking on a big Expo as a strong Nordic Group

Nordic Edge and partners are bringing a Nordic delegation of growth companies and other stakeholders to Smart City Expo World Congress, combining the opportunities of one of the world's leading urban innovation events with a curated programme of networking, market connections and collaboration.

Our ambition is to make a large international arena smaller, more accessible and more relevant for the those joining us.

Throughout the week, we'll be actively working across the Expo, connecting with cities, industry, investors and innovation ecosystems, and bringing together people who might otherwise never meet.

Our Team

The Nordic Edge team with Trygve Meyer (Head of Smart City Cluster), Torill S. Hoel (Head of Business Development, Anita Skog (Business Developer) and Eline Vigre (Head of EU projects development) will be in Barcelona 2–5 November 2026.

With a strong network of Nordic, Spanish and international partners, we're creating opportunities for new conversations, partnerships and business relationships that can develop well beyond Barcelona.

This years delegation is now confirmed, and we're focusing on activating our combined networks and making the most of the week.

Good to know!

📍 Basecamp area
We have booked Uma House by Yurbban Trafalgar as our Nordic Edge base. The hotel is centrally located close to Plaça Catalunya, with easy access to Smart City Expo (by taxi) and within walking distance of many restaurants, cafés and bars.

There are several hotels in the immediate area, so participants are welcome to choose the accommodation that best suits their preferences and budget. We recommend staying around Trafalgar / Urquinaona / Plaça Catalunya to make it easy to meet up with the delegation throughout the week.

The location is also convenient for our Nordic Business Mixer at Casa Batlló, which is around a 15-minute walk from the hotel.

From Circular Ambition to Business Reality
A lunch event hosted by Nordic Innovation & Nordic Edge.
Venue: Hotel Plaza Europe Gran Via (5 minute walk from the Expo).

How do we turn circular and sustainable ambitions into implementation and scale?
We will bring together different perspectives to explore what it takes to make circular solutions commercially viable and scalable. Final format, speakers and participating partners will be announced as the programme develops.

Nordic Business Mixer | Evening
A curated networking event. Limited capacity / By invitation only.

The Nordic Business Mixer brings together companies and key players from across the Nordics and international ecosystems – including cities and municipalities, investors, corporates and innovation ecosystems. The goal is to bring people who should know each other, into the same room – providing an arena for first handshakes that can grow into new business opportunities and partnerships. Companies and key partners will be briefly introduced at the start, giving everyone a sense of who is in the room and helping kick-start conversations and connections.

Thursday, November 5

Expo/Travel day
Thursday marks the final day of the Expo, offering the opportunity to explore the event one last time at your own pace or prepare for your journey home.

We are mapping relevant exhibitors, cities and innovation partners at SCEWC and will organise informal stand visits throughout the week. The aim is to connect Nordic companies with potential customers, partners and new market opportunities through relevant conversations and introductions.

▪️ Barcelona Ecosystem & Local Connections

We are exploring opportunities to connect with Barcelona’s innovation ecosystem, including local companies, clusters and urban innovation initiatives. 

▪️ Smart Ports & Blue Economy | Market Connections

Together with Innovation Norway Spain and other partners, we are working to connect Nordic companies with relevant ports, infrastructure actors and maritime innovation networks. We aim to bring relevant contacts into our Nordic Business Mixer, creating opportunities for new connections and dialogue around smart port infrastructure, digitalisation and the green transition.
