Bigger, bolder, better. For the ninth time, Nordic Fund Day was kicked off with investors and start-ups – this time in Stockholm at Norrsken House, Europe’s largest early-stage impact hub.

– We’ve built a network of investors who understands the start-up needs and see the potential. They attend these events on the look-out for new prospects to invest in, but also to share their network and expertise. This provides added value beyond the possibility of funding, says Emilie Martinsen Christensen, and continues:

– This is incredibly valuable to our members, and it’s no coincidence that this has become one of our most popular events.

A unique event

– Nordic Fund Day is a unique platform for us investors – it provides an efficient and engaging opportunity to meet a curated selection of Nordic early-stage companies, says Linn-Cecilie Linneman, partner in LUMO Labs VC.

This is not Linneman’s first time around at Nordic Fund Day and it’s a reason she and LUMO keeps coming back for more.

– The format is focused and allows for genuine conversations and relationship building. Having participated multiple times, I can clearly see how the initiative strengthens the ecosystem and creates real investment opportunities across the regions. And not least: Emilie does an impressive job bringing together many talented VCs and building strong relationships within the community.

Kristijan Jordanov, CEO of Net Zero Build says Nordic Fund Day is an excellent event with opportunities for expanding your network and making new collaborations

Big funding, big impact, huge interest

Norrsken House is THE hub for early-stage impact companies in Europe, making it the perfect home for our Stockholm Event. A rough estimate suggests that the total venture capital present during the event was more than 4 billion euros.

– The cumulative impact of all the companies is unparalleled. Together with the venture capital in the room, we have the perfect set-up for creating real impact for the planet and our society, says Emilie.

The interest for attending Nordic Fund Day is overwhelming, Emilie explains.
– This demonstrates the value of having a unified Nordic front. Together we have an even greater opportunities for growth, resulting in proven results for our members, Emilie continues.

The companies chosen to pitch was:

EMabler – Open EV charging platform (FI)

EQON – Smarter urban energy systems (NO)

Green-On – Sustainable food alternatives (SE)

Gårdskapital – Climate-smart agri-finance (SE)

Nelinor – Urban energy optimization (FI)

Net Zero Build – Building net-zero construction tech (SE)

Nordic Bio-Graphite – Eco-materials for mobility (SE)

renasys – Tech for smarter, greener cities (NO)

Völur – AI for sustainable meat production (NO)

ZNL Energy – Urban energy + transportation innovation (NO)

Common for these companies: impact-driven start-ups from the Nordics solving real challenges from cities to soil.

A continuing success story

– Nordic Fund Day have matched over one hundred companies with investors over the years, and we can already see the signs of success from the event in Stockholm, Emilie says enthusiastically.

Attending this year’s Nordic Fund Day was Kristijan Jordanov, CEO of Net Zero Build. They were one of the companies selected by the jury to pitch their solution to the investors, and Jordanov is very pleased with the results and sees exciting opportunities and potential collaborations ahead:

– It was a well-organized event with highly relevant investors and ecosystem stakeholders. Both the main event and the side events provided excellent networking opportunities, and we made valuable connections with fellow startups—exploring exciting synergies and potential collaborations. A big thanks to the Nordic Edge team for bringing us all together!

With nine events in the bag, Nordic Edge has several success stories to reflect on. For example: two of our members raising capital as a direct result of Nordic Fund Day.

Proptly and Telescope, members of our Smart City cluster have both attended previous Nordic Fund Days with great success.

– It would’ve taken us years to get to where we are today without the help from Nordic Edge and Nordic Fund Day, says CEO of Proptly Gunnar W.

– We are grateful for a kick-ass setup by Nordic Edge. Keep it up, says Gustav from Telescope.

And keep it up we will. In October, we’ll host the 10th Nordic Fund during Oslo Innovation Week, and the event is open for investors to sign up.

Next week we’ll open the call for companies to apply for Nordic Fund Day.
Thank you Stockholm, and we’ll see you next time in Oslo!
