About Nordic Edge Expo

Nordic Edge Expo is the leading Nordic Event for future cities and communities, enabling change, creating business opportunities and connecting people.

Our Story

2015
The very first Nordic Edge Expo was staged in 2015 as a two-day event. A gathering of 500 attendees from 14 countries, with 23 exhibitors. The concept was to bring likeminded people together to find out what was happening in our cities and communities and how we could make them smarter with the developing technology available.

Early on, the goal was to make Nordic Edge Expo the leading meeting place and smart city conference in the Nordics as a driving force in developing smart, sustainable and liveable cities, on account of the strong public sector, success in innovation and business and democratic values held in the region.

Since then, we have built up the conference and exhibition to take an international position in the smart city market and putting smart city Stavanger on the map, while holding close ties with organisations from our Nordic neighbours.

2017

In 2017, a three-day programme saw the H2020 Triangulum project join the conference programme; Stavanger being one of the main Lighthouse cities. This brought us further close ties to several other European organisations who have been dedicated partners over the years. KnowHow Edtech also joined the conference on the third day and has been a side conference every year since.

2018

By 2018, we were up to 5000 attendees from nearly 50 countries with 200 exhibitors and introduced our ‘Start-up Village’ area in the exhibition hall for new and young companies.

2020

In 2020, along with many other conferences, we went digital. Over a week, we held live conference sessions from six locations in the Nordics and Europe, multiple workshops and parallel sessions, hosted side conferences for KnowHow Edtech , Junior Achievement and in Beijing, China reaching an audience of over 20.000.

2021

In 2021, we held a four day hybrid event based in the very heart of Stavanger. The main conference was held on the electric ferry M/S Rygerelektra, moored along the quayside, and streamed live to over 8500 digital attendees. Workshops and side conferences were held both physically and digitally with social and learning events in the evenings in venues around the city centre.
