Redefining energy, leveraging flexibility in future ecosystems through services, systems and market mechanisms
The energy consumption is set to grow 60% by 2030 from today’s level. As a result, CO2 emissions can increase by 70%. Global energy today is almost 70% based on fossil sources, and by 2050 the game will have changed completely. Right now there is demand of new solutions and it seems the best practices are developed in collaboration – for example in ecosystems that provide a possibility to co-create innovate together.
Jan Segerstam, Development Director of Empower IM Oy, is active in developing the energy markets of the future in Europe together with a number of partners in Smart Otaniemi and EU projects. He has worked on developing the energy sector for over 20 years and also works together with national market bodies and decision makers on regulation and legislation in energy. The future energy ecosystem is a diverse environment that thrives on technologically advanced ways of managing energy and open market mechanisms for value determination. Jan Segerstam works on these through his project work and builds on the collaboration of all the parties involved while leveraging his extensive experience in market-based energy ecosystems.
