Nordic smart city examples are very important and interesting to other regions, especially towards Asia. How can we join forces in order to export Nordic smart city capabilities? Ecosystems and tight collaboration between cities and innovation clusters are needed in order to make smart city projects truly shine. But what is needed for a good collaboration and how to bring this forth?

Outi Valkama is a Program Manager of Data-Driven City for Citizens development Program at City of Tampere. Before current, she has worked among topics mainly related to effectiveness of public services, Social sustainability and using data and AI to improve people’s well-being and viability of the city region through improved knowledge management. Outi is also working in the National Artificial Intelligence Program Aurora AI led by the Ministry of Finance of Finland, where she participates in the formulation and implementation of a National Human-Centric AI-Transformation model.
Dr. Kirsi Kotilainen is Solution sales lead for Smart Energy and Built Environment at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd. Before joining VTT, she was working in various academic projects related to the sustainability transition of the energy system at the Tampere University and the University of Cambridge as part of her doctoral studies. Kirsi has also worked at Nokia Corporation in international business development roles.
