The Agenda 2030 challenges cities to progressive leadership towards sustainable development. The broad definition of sustainability calls for cross-sectoral strategic work. Our project worked with 12 Finnish municipalities ranging in size, type, and location to identify three leadership models for sustainable development through which the local level cross-sectoral work can be organised purposefully and in a more impactful manner. The presentation highlights the models with examples from Finnish cities, paying special attention to their achievements in energy transition.
