This year’s Nordic Edge Expo conference programme will be delivered to you from Rygerelektra. A state-of-the-art, fully electric passenger ferry. We invite visitors to Stavanger during the event days, 20-23 September to follow the conference onboard the boat, docked in the city centre.

Cruise Green with Rødne and M/S Rygerelektra

M/S Rygerelektra, which is the world’s fastest and longest-range boat of its kind, was delivered in 2020 as the biggest investment in Rødne’s more than 60-year history.

It is part of a 20-year environmental effort in which Rødne has invested more than half a billion Norwegian Crowns in cutting fuel consumption and emissions. This includes upgrading existing boats with new, low-pollution engines, reducing waste, and being a leader in the ‘Green Transition.’

“We’re delighted to show her off at Nordic Edge Expo,” says Lars Andre Rødne, general manager of the family-owned company. “We invest in sustainable solutions so future generations will also be able to enjoy beautiful, unspoiled scenery.  Rygerelektra is the first step toward building an emission-free fleet,” he says.

Battery-powered ‘Rygerelektra’ shows that Green Tourism can be achieved without sacrificing comfort or enjoyment. The modern boat can take nearly 300 passengers for emission-free cruises as it glides in near silence through majestic landscapes.

“We call it Cruise Green,” says Rødne.

The state-of-the-art boat is as suitable for corporate use as for sightseeing. It is fully equipped for conferences and has a spacious lounge with flexible furnishings that can quickly be rearranged for meetings and events, even those with full dinner service and in need of a dance floor.

“Our magnificent fjords are natural wonders that Rødne Fjord Cruise loves to share with the world. But just as important is preserving the fjords’ unspoiled beauty for future generations through sustainable tourism. Our new flagship, electric ‘M/S Rygerelektra’, is proof of our commitment to Green Tourism,” says Rødne.

During daytime, 20-23 September, M/S Rygerelektra will be a hive of activity hosting speakers and attendees at Nordic Edge Expo. In the afternoons and evenings it is possible to take her out for a spin in the magnificent Ryfylke basin.
