🇪🇸 Day 0: Let’s Go to the Market!
Barcelona welcomed Nordic Edge and Innovasjon Norge with dramatic stormy skies, a vivid reminder of the urgent need for climate-conscious, sustainable cities. This served as the backdrop for a special pre-event day focused on helping members understand the Spanish market and exploring the potential of Spain, and get inspiration of the vibrant 22@Network Barcelona innovation district.
Nordic Edge and Innovasjon Norge introduced a go-to-market program tailored to provide our members with insights on entering the Spanish market, learning from local startups, especially in the mobility sector. The day concluded with a warm reception from the Norwegian Ambassador in Spain, where Emilie Christensen proudly introduced Nordic Edge to the Norwegian delegation, building a strong foundation for the days ahead at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC).
Day 1: Making a Presence on the European Stage!
Day 1 of SCEWC saw Nordic Edge members hit the ground running, engaging with stakeholders from across the Nordics and Europe at our collaborative booth with Signify and NEB-STAR. The Nordic Pavilion stage hosted Bikeloop, alongside Design og arkitektur Norge (DOGA), NEB-STAR, and Forum Virium Helsinki, in a forward-looking panel, diving into: “The Next Smart: From Artificial to Collective Intelligence.”
Steinar Meling in behalf of NEB-STAR led a panel that shared perspectives on fostering effective public-private partnerships, here Anders Ohm spotlighted Pedersgata’s development as a prime example. The European Digital Innovation Hub Oceanopolis took the opportunity at the booth to forge valuable connections, exploring fresh possibilities for digital collaboration across Europe.
With two more days of networking, presentations, and site visits ahead, the momentum was only building!
Day 2: The Nordics on Fire at Fira Barcelona
The energy continued on Day 2, with highlights that reflect the depth of engagement and inspiration:
- Insights from our impactful stage sessions
- Connections made that will strengthen our members’ reach and influence
- Meeting the next generation of innovators from Hetland vgs
- Growing our communities within Nordic Edge clusters and European projects like NEB-STAR and Oceanopolis
Nordic Edge led a session on “Driving the Future of Green Construction and Digital Real Estate” featuring Bikeloop, EQON, and insights from Stockholm Business Region and Invest in Skåne, shedding light on sustainable urban development and the digital future of real estate.
Later, in partnership with Stockholm Business Region, Invest in Skåne, and Katapult VC, Nordic Edge hosted an Investor Afterwork. Investors such as KOMPAS VC, EIT Urban Mobility, STYX Urban Investments, and Norrsken connected with Nordic Edge members, eager to support innovations that can create sustainable, positive impacts.
The day concluded with a cluster dinner for our traveling members, celebrating new connections and sharing knowledge gathered throughout the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona.
